Review: Monitor ASUS ML239H

ASUS ML239H 23-Inch LED Monitor (Black)

GADGET REVIEW - Not all LCD screens were created equal, you would already know about it. The LED display are increasingly popular today, thanks to an intense marketing program. Compared to regular LCD screen, the screen with LED backlight promising lower power usage. Another type that was previously only known to a technical person, but now more common, is the IPS type LCD. LCD type with IPS panel promises a higher color accuracy and wider viewing angle. Like this flat-screen monitor Asus ML239H.

Asus ML239H has several preset display, such as "Cinema", "Night Mode", and "Game". We found that the highest color accuracy is achieved at the preset "sRGB". Using this preset, Asus ML239H can display luminance of the gray value of 1 to 252. With a value of 99.2%, also known as "good performance". Saturation level is also very good at the whole spectrum of colors. The only complaint is the invisibility of little lines in monochrome gradation in shadow areas.

Asus ML239H equipped with e-IPS panel that was mentioned to have equivalent performance to S-IPS but lower prices. We could deny that statement because ML239H has very wide viewing angle, 160° horizontal and 165° vertical. Moreover, in the point of view, there is no shifting in color and contrast.

Contrast ratio measurements carried out by measuring the brightness of a perfect black screen and compare it with a perfect white screen. Measurements were taken at the lowest and highest brightness backlight. Dynamic contrast ratio is also measured, namely the comparison of the white value on the highest brightness with black value on the lowest brightness. And the Asus ML239H contrat ratio is 488:1. A normal LCD screen has a contrast ratio in the range 400-750:1. Therefore, a value of about 488:1 that achieved by Asus ML239H still within normal limits.

ML239H backlight brightness range between 91-233 cd/m2. Both the top and the bottom value of the monitor is still in the normal level.

With LED backlight, Asus ML239H is certain to have lower power consumption. At the lowest level of brightness, this monitor requires only 20 Watts. While at the highest level, Asus ML239H absorbs 36 watts of power.

Without turning the power on, this Asus ML239H already attractive, thanks to the design which won two design awards. This monitor stand is attractive and functional. You'll like the smooth of tilt and swivel, also the wide viewing angle. The price is quite cheap relative to the other eIPS monitors of it's size on the market.
