capacitive touchscreen
We previously discussed the Resistive Touchscreen technology, now we proceed with a second touchscreen technology. Capacitive touchscreen works in quite a different way. Capacitive system has a wrapper layer that is the key to how it works, that is a capacitive wrap in the entire surface. Touchscreen panel is equipped with a wrapper layer that made from indium tinoxide which continuously deliver electric current, and then directed to the sensor.

Capacitive layers works by sensing a conductivity - the electricity transferring feature that naturally occurs in water-consisted things, like human fingers. This is why using a regular stylus on capacitive screen won’t work, since usually the stylus is made from plastic which doesn’t have a conductive feature.

When the layers are in normal status (without any touch of the fingers), the sensor will remember the reference value of electric current. When our fingers touch the surface of this layer, then the reference value is changed because there are electric currents that change the entry to the sensor. Information from these events will be received by the sensor to be transmitted to the controller. Position calculation process will start here.

This calculation uses the position of the four corner points on the touchscreen panel as a reference. When the calculation result is obtained, then the coordinates and the position from the touch can be known. Finally, information from these will be integrated with other programs to run an application.

Capacitive touchscreen very smooth to operate as it only requires your fingers, without pressure. Display screen has a clarity of up to 90% and doesn't affect the display quality even in direct sunlight.
