GADGET REVIEW - HTC brings one more member into HTC One's  family - the HTC One S. One S offers elegant design and is the thinnest smartphone made  by this Taiwanese vendors. Not only that, even equipped with a dual core processor, HTC claim that the performance of One S could compete with quad-core processor. Really?

Design & Interface
One S is available in two options - ultra-matte black and gray gradient. Although using aluminum, One S remain lightweighted even lighter than Samsung Galaxy S II that uses plastic materials. One S also has awesome thickness - only 7.8mm.
Slightly different from HTC One X which also uses the concept of a unibody, One S has a little plastic panel in the top and bottom on rear body. The plastic panel on the top also serves as cover access to micro SIM slot as well as a place for antenna elements , the right choice to avoid the death grip problem.

Performance
The latest generation of Snapdragon chipset used on One S said to have performance that is able to compete for the performance of its main competitor NVIDIA Tegra 3 which in fact has twice number of core processors.

Although not using the Snapdragon S4, One S's performance still good with 1.7 Ghz Snapdragon S3. A number of applications and features run smooth without significant obstacles. Adreno 225 GPU and 1 GB of RAM also makes graphics performance went well.

No significant problems like lag when running heavy and "need good graphics device" applications. The video streaming also run smoothly, despite the speed of data transfer depends on the internet or wi-fi network connections.

As a dual-core processor smartphone, One S showed a satisfactory results during benchmark test. With Quadrant app - One S score is 3775. While using Antutu app - One S got 7108. Those results certainly beyond HTC Sensation XE which also using dual-core processor - Sensation XE gets the score of 2493 and 4791 using the same app. However, when compare with LG HD 4X, One S able to surpass this Quad-core processor phone -  4X HD only get 3561 with Quadrant app.

Connectivity
For the network, One S uses GSM and HSDPA / HSUPA. This makes internet access running well, which of course depends on the quality of available cellular provider. But unfortunately, One S is not equipped with Near Field Communication (NFC). One S only comes with Wi-Fi, micro-USB port, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0.

When connected to a computer, the user will be offered a selection of menus - likes battery charging, mass storage mode, HTC Sync, USB tethering (using One S as a modem to connect to the Internet via a PC) and Internet pass through (One S using internet connection on PC to connect to Internet).

HTC One S using 16 GB of internal storage, but doesn't provide with microSD slot for external memory. Even though 16GB is pretty big for mobile storage, but to patch up these flaws, you can save some space with cloud storage system via Dropbox.

One S also is equipped with a MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) micro USB port capability, it means with special cable you can connect One S to display HDTV or HD monitor.

Behind the Process of HTC One S Body
There is the interesting part of the process of making the body of One S. For an ultra-matte black color, the production begins with a 6000 series aluminum materials (this series commonly used for the aircraft body) and then through the process of Micro Arc Oxidation (MOA).

This special process, using 10,000 volts of electricity, equivalent to the power of lightning - which then change the surface of aluminum into ceramic. Not only make it look more attractive, this process also makes the  has resistance 5 times stronger than aluminum aircraft maker and 3 times stronger than stainless steel.

As for gray gradient color, through the anodizing process that produces the color gradation of light gray to dark gray color without using paint.

Conclusion
From outside, One S is HTC's thinnest smartphone and is also made from best quality materials. With unique process, making this smartphone looks beautiful and strong at the same time.

When you look inside, One S also offers satisfactory performance. For dual-core processor, One S even be said to have the best performance - even when compare with quad-core processor smartphone.

"Beauty and Brains" are the words to describe this phone.
