HTC One V

Gadget Review - Through One series, HTC trying to make a breakthrough with the first smartphone that using quad-core processors in their new portfolio. Along with the super-phone - HTC One X, HTC also brings a numbers of other smartphones with lower specifications and of course, more affordable prices. One of them is HTC One V, the cheapest products on the entire One Series squad.

Design & Interface
Remember the HTC typical design that appears on a number of previous Android smartphones such as the Hero, Legend and Salsa? Yup, the curve design at the bottom is now back in One V. Still look weird but cool at the same time.

Body of this phone is dominated with aluminum material and HTC's unibody design characteristic that blend from the backcover, the sides and the front side, precisely below the screen. Additionally, tough Gorilla Glass protected the display and 3 buttons haptic feedback, and plastic materials that cover access to the microSD and SIM card at the bottom-rear.

Unlike the other HTC One series that brings Super AMOLED screen (HTC One S) or Super IPS LCD2 (HTC One X and XL), One V only equipped with standard LCD capacitive. Even so, HTC One V's screen is capable of displaying a good color, contrast and sharpness. One V screen can still be easily readable under direct sunlight and has a wide viewing angle.

Like the One X, One V also uses the most popular operating system with the latest version, Android Ice Cream Sandwich. And presented in the latest User Interface - HTC Sense UI 4.0.

Just a reminder, in the latest version of Sense UI, HTC eliminating carousel effect when switching between panels on the homescreen. Active lockscreen were also eliminated on One V but not on the whole Sense UI 4.0 - since we still find it on the One X. As well as leap view that should be accessed by doing a pinch zoom on the homescreen. And the rest, you'll get an experience similar to the One X. But of course, you can't compare this with the mighty One X.

Hardware
One V certainly equipped with a lowest hardware specifications than another HTC smartphones One series. Instead of using multi-core processors, One V only rely on single-core processors. GPU used was not the best from Adreno, as well as the capacity of RAM, as it only uses 512 MB.

For storage space, you can only use 1GB of the 4GB has. Fortunately, unlike another HTC One Series, One V has a microSD card slot to increase the capacity of the external memory.

Connectivity & Camera
One V is also had a complete connectivity like One X, all important route options to connect to the Internet or connect to other devices provided by HTC, except NFC.

There is an exciting development in the sector of the camera HTC One Series. When running this feature, users will immediately see the viewfinder area. On the right there is a blue button to access the selection effects and shortcut towards gallery.

Users will also find the shutter button and the video recorder. This means, that the camera mode and video recorder are now united, and not only that, users can even record a video and take a pictures at the same time. The camera also include continuous shooting features, which allowed users to capture a multiple images with a single touch.

Despite having similar features, the camera captured on One V predictably not as good as One X. When used in limited lighting conditions, the images look reddish. But if in good lighting conditions, the One V camera are the best for 5MP camera class.

Bottom Line
With a price that doesn't even touch half of the One X pricetag, HTC certainly equip One V with lower specs that of course directly affect the performance of the phone. But, One V has every essential features that you might need from a smartphone.

However, when compared with other phone at the same level, One V can certainly able to stand out - thanks to the updated version of the operating system and amazing user experience (not much different from the One X). Read more reviews...
